The Qatalum Procurement Department is the single point for all company procurement activities, which include procurement of goods, service contracts, inbound logistics, movement of goods.

On April 12, 2010, Qatalum, also known as Qatar Aluminium Ltd., was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, in Messaied, located approximately 40 km south of the capital, Doha. Notably, Qatalum stands as the largest aluminum plant ever established, boasting an initial capacity of 585,000 tons of primary aluminum in its first phase. All this output is intended to be distributed as value-added aluminum cast house products.

Achieving full production in 2011, the Qatalum smelter is poised to act as a driving force for the development of aluminum-related industries in both Qatar and the surrounding region through its value-added products. As part of the nation’s long-term strategic planning, Qatar aspires to become a major hub for aluminum trade and production, not only within the region but on a global scale.
